Well, 2020 is coming to an end (thank goodness!). Looking ahead into next year, I know that new and exciting challenges await. To that end, here are my health/ wellness goals for the new year…
- Surgery: I have a surgery coming up that is unfortunately going to sideline me from running for a while. Not long, in the grand scheme of things, but long enough that it’s wrecked my momentum these past two months. Good news? The surgery is early in the year- so I will be down during the cold months. And really, who likes to run when it’s freezing? Not this guy!
- Run 26.2: My longest run to date is a 20 miler that I busted out (somewhat unexpectedly). I know it’s an arbitrary distance, but it is a feasible goal to set while I’m rebuilding endurance post-surgery. Not sure that time will permit to complete the ultra I wanted to do this year.
- ReComp: If I start back with running in March/ April- I should be good to finish a marathon by late October/Nov. As 2021 begins to fade to 2022, I want to spend more time in the gym working on recomposition. I’m not looking to add a ton of muscle, but I want to be physically ready for attempting an ultra in 2022.
So, there you have it: Step 1: Heal. Step 2: Rebuild endurance. Step 3: ReComp. Bring on 2021!
